Life is made up of many pieces, like a puzzle. Here I attempt to put them all together.

Mr. Bones

We call Michael Mr. Bones when he wears these. He doesn't get what the fuss is about but the other kids love it.

I have to say I loved this article, or at least the title of this article - Men Married to Smart Women Live Longer

It's the time of year when many people begin to reflect on the past year and to think ahead to the new year. Here is an interesting post on motivation from zenhabits.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

I am loving looking out the windows today. The weather forecast says three to five inches of snow by this evening.

Let is snow!

Toxic Goop

Why would my child feel the need to throw this silly putty ( with the delightful name of Toxic Goop) onto our ceiling?

In these two pictures there is actually a string of silly putty hanging down from the ceiling and Austin and Amanda are trying to pull the rest down.

For some reason having been stuck to the ceiling made this Toxic Goop even goopier and Amanda had a hard time getting it off her hands.

They set up the ladder and took turns working on removing it.

Amanda thought maybe using the fly swatter would help. It didn't.

It actually came off better than I thought it would. Here is what we have left to remind us of today's adventure.

I wonder what they'll try tomorrow.

This and That from Monday 11/30/09

Austin studying math. This was not an assignment, he decided on his own he wanted some extra practice. Michael was watching, listening and cheering him on.

Someone is getting sleepy.

Amanda was cutting pictures out of magazines and using them to set up her "house." Here she is very amused because her blender is bigger than her couch.

Fun with puppets.

Fun with paint. This was Amanda's idea and she took responsibility for the project. She had the kid paint paper plates to be made into masks.

It's always amazing to me how much entertainment a big bowl of dried beans, some containers and some spoons will provide.

Coloring a book of songs that we are learning this week.

Amanda is decorating one wall of the playroom for Christmas. Here she was finding the designs she wanted on internet and then coloring the ones she chose.

Coffee Ground Taste Test

I could not resist snapping these pictures when Michael stuck his fingers in the basket of used coffee grounds and took a big taste.

Bread of Life, Playing with Tools, Dinosaurs and Playdough

I made some whole wheat bread dough to put in the freezer for later use. Or rather, I started making it and Amanda took over. She loves to cook and bake and is becoming quite the young chef. I even slipped in a lesson (just a little one) on fractions. And yes, she's still in her PJs. She loves her cat pajamas.

I froze the dough in balls to use later to make homemade hot pockets.

This recipe is called Bread of Life and is found here.

I also made a pineapple cake. And it's quickly disappearing. I think I have a house full of eating machines today.

Doug and Michael tackled some repairs today in our downstairs bathroom. I think they really just wanted an excuse to play with the tools.

And a whole herd of dinosaurs invaded our playroom!

Michael and Hunter were both very wound up this evening, running up and down the hall, throwing toys, climbing everything in sight. So I got out the play dough. They only played for about 15 minutes but they had fun. And by the time they got tired of playing with the play dough it was close enough to bed time to go ahead get them ready.

I found some links to some sites with fun playdough activities that I thought I would share: Scholastic - Playing With Playdough and Playdough Letters.
