Life is made up of many pieces, like a puzzle. Here I attempt to put them all together.

10 THINGS THAT MAKE ME SMILE

1. The smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.

2. The look on Doug's (my fiance) face when I surprise him into laughing by saying something
totally outrageous.

3. The hearty laughter of my 12 yr. old son at some of my crazy misfortunes-even though it may
annoy me at the time.

4. My 10 yr. old daughter's great big hugs and hearing her say "I love you mommy."

5. The look of concentration on my 2 yr. old son's face as he intently eats a good meal after
working up an appetite playing outside.

6. The color green-and the filmy evening light shining through my green curtains.

7. Mahjong

8. Twitter

9. A good night's sleep after a productive day.

10. Jeremiah 29:11-"For I know the thoughts I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for
good and not for evil, to give you a future and an hope."

  2. Jeremiah 29:12-34

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

Honey, that promise in Jeremiah was made to the Nation of Israel after they had spent 70 years under Babylonian oppression.

This particular promise was only made to the Nation of Israel at that time, and was only fulfilled once the Nation began seeking God as a whole. In it's context, it does not promise us health, wealth, and welfare.

If we look at the story of Job or even James 1, we see clear a pattern; that while GOD is faithful to his children it isn't always a fun ride.

    James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not delivering a message of correction, I just wanted to try and clarify the Jeremiah passage, because it's source of confusion for many in the church today. Heck, you probably know more about it than I do.

    God Bless,
